Location: Handsworth, Birmingham
Pay: £90–£105 per day
Job Type: Supply / Day-to-Day / Flexible

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for flexible supply work in Handsworth?

We are currently recruiting experienced SEN TAs to support special schools in the Handsworth area, providing day-to-day and short-term cover across a range of specialist settings.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and young people with additional needs and wants the flexibility to choose when and where they work.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASC/ASD, SLD, MLD, PMLD and complex needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, development and engagement
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate and manage their emotions
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff
  • Following individual EHCPs and personalised support plans
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for pupils

We are looking for:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Experience within a special school, residential setting or as a support worker is highly desirable
  • A Level 2/3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Childcare, Health & Social Care or a related area is essential
  • Someone patient, resilient, proactive and nurturing
  • Confident supporting pupils with challenging or complex needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
