Description
We are looking for experienced and resilient Learning Mentors to join a new education setting in South Birmingham. This role would be particularly suited to individuals who have worked in pastoral care, mental health support, youth work, behaviour support or similar environments.
You don’t need a specific qualification for this role. What matters most is your experience, personality and ability to build positive relationships with young people.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting young people with their educational, emotional and pastoral needs
- Helping learners overcome barriers that may be preventing them from engaging with education
- Developing positive and trusting relationships with students
- Providing encouragement, guidance and consistent support throughout the day
- Supporting learners who may present with challenging behaviour
- Helping to create a calm, safe and positive learning environment
- Working closely with the wider team to support individual learners
- Transporting children when required
- Travelling between centres occasionally when needed
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people
- Has experience working in a challenging environment
- Has a background in pastoral support, mental health, youth work, behaviour support, education or a similar setting
- Is patient, approachable and resilient
- Can confidently manage challenging situations
- Is able to build strong relationships with young people
- Has a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle
- Is comfortable transporting children and travelling between centres when required
- Does not necessarily hold formal qualifications – relevant experience is the priority
The role:
- South Birmingham
- £95 – £105 per day
- Full-time
- Temp to perm after 12 weeks
- No formal qualification required
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle essential
- Occasional travel between centres
