CERT Solutions are currently recruiting for a dedicated, caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school based in Great Barr.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with visual impairments, and wants to make a real difference to their learning, development and independence.
The successful candidate will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, providing tailored learning and personal support to ensure they can access the curriculum and feel confident within the school environment.
Experience supporting children or young people with visual impairments is essential, as you will be helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their independence through appropriate support and resources.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of 6 months’ experience working with children or young people in an educational, care or similar setting.
- Hold a child-related or care-related qualification.
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with visual impairments.
- Be confident adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Have a patient, compassionate and proactive approach.
- Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be passionate about helping children develop their confidence, independence and life skills.
The role will involve:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN and visual impairments.
- Supporting pupils to access classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
- Helping adapt learning materials and resources to make them accessible.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and social development.
- Supporting pupils with their individual learning and development targets.
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff to provide consistent, high-quality support.
