CERT Solutions are currently recruiting for a passionate, dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist SEN school based in Erdington.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and wants to make a real difference to their education, development and wellbeing.
The successful candidate will be working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties and additional learning needs. You will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive and positive learning environment, helping pupils to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of 6 months’ experience working with children or young people in an educational, care or similar setting.
- Hold a child-related or care-related qualification.
- Have experience supporting children with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Be patient, empathetic, resilient and approachable.
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Be confident managing challenging situations using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people.
The role will involve:
- Supporting pupils with their learning and development.
- Providing emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Supporting children with emotional regulation and social development.
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and following individual support plans.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure pupils receive the best possible care and education.

CERT Solutions is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS and be required to complete and pass Safeguarding and Prevent training level 2.
