We are currently recruiting for 3 dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist further education setting in Sutton Coldfield from September 2026.

This welcoming and supportive college provides educational and life-skills opportunities for young people aged 16-25 with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), speech and language difficulties, and associated behavioural needs.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners both within the classroom and out in the community, helping them to develop their independence, communication skills and confidence as they prepare for adulthood.

£90 – £105 per day
Full-Time, Permanent | September 2026 Start

The Role:

  • Supporting students aged 16-25 on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Assisting with the delivery of tailored educational programmes and vocational activities.
  • Promoting independence, social skills and preparation for adulthood.
  • Supporting students with communication, emotional regulation and sensory needs.
  • Encouraging engagement both in the classroom and during community-based learning activities.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for learners.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working within a special school, specialist college, care setting or similar environment.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable.
  • Experience supporting young people with Autism, learning difficulties and additional needs.
  • A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A passion for supporting young people to achieve greater independence and life skills.
