Description
We are currently recruiting for multiple Learning Mentor positions at a new education centre in Central Birmingham, supporting children and young people who may have experienced challenging circumstances within education.
This role would suit someone who has previously worked in a pastoral, mental health, youth work, behaviour support or other similar environment and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and engage positively with education.
The Role:
- Providing one-to-one and group support to children and young people
- Supporting learners with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Providing pastoral support and helping learners develop confidence and resilience
- Supporting children and young people who may have experienced challenging circumstances
- Helping learners manage difficult situations and encouraging positive behaviour
- Creating a safe, structured and supportive environment
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure learners receive the appropriate support
- Transporting children when required
- Occasional travel between other centres may be required
About You:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is essential
- Experience working in a challenging environment is essential
- Previous experience in pastoral support, mental health, youth work, behaviour support or a similar role would be highly beneficial
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
- Comfortable transporting children when required
- Flexible and willing to travel between centres occasionally
- Patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A nurturing and supportive approach
- No formal qualifications are required – relevant experience and the right attitude are what matter most

- Location: Central Birmingham
- Pay: £95 – £105 per day
- Full-time
- Temp to perm after 12 weeks
- New education centre
- Immediate start available
- Occasional travel between centres
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle essential
