A welcoming and well-established special school in Handsworth is seeking experienced and passionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team from September.
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils aged 2-19 with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex learning difficulties and behaviours that may challenge. The school is looking for committed individuals who are dedicated to helping young people thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment.
The Role:
- Supporting children and young people aged 2-19 within a specialist setting.
- Working with pupils with ASC, complex needs and behavioural difficulties.
- Assisting with communication, sensory activities and the development of life skills.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting engagement in learning.
- Working closely with teachers and therapists to provide the best outcomes for pupils.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a special school setting or a similar environment is essential.
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Health and Social Care qualification, Childcare qualification, or equivalent is essential.
- A patient, resilient and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
