CERT Solutions are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a special school in Erdington for an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same. The successful candidate will play a key role in the classroom, working alongside the class teacher to support learning while also confidently leading the class and delivering pre-planned lessons when required.
About the School
This welcoming and inclusive secondary special school provides education for students with a range of additional needs, including SLD, MLD, ASC and SEMH.
All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are currently in the process of receiving one. The school is committed to creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally while celebrating their individual achievements.
The Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
- Lead whole-class learning and deliver pre-planned lessons in the teacher’s absence or when required.
- Support students with a range of additional needs to access learning and achieve their individual targets.
- Deliver small group and one-to-one interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour using a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of students.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to provide the best possible outcomes for every learner.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a HLTA qualification or has relevant experience working at HLTA level.
- Has previous experience working within a SEND or special school setting.
- Is confident supporting and leading classes independently.
- Has a good understanding of supporting students with SLD, MLD, ASC and/or SEMH.
- Is patient, resilient and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
