Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

CERT Solutions are working with a specialist autism provision in Erdington that supports children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school provides a structured, nurturing environment designed to help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.
We are seeking autism specialists who is passionate about supporting pupils and helping them access education in a way that meets their individual needs.
The Role
- Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
- Implementing visual timetables, structured routines and sensory-based learning activities
- Supporting pupils with EHCP outcomes and personalised learning targets
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
Requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with autism
- A patient, calm and consistent approach
- Good understanding of safeguarding procedures
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Desirable Experience
- Autism specialist settings
- PECS, Makaton or visual communication strategies
- Sensory processing needs
- Challenging behaviour support
- SEND school experience
