SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs
Handsworth, Birmingham | Full-Time | Immediate Start
CERT Solutions are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Handsworth supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition, Behaviour challenges and physical disabilities.
This is an opportunity to work within a highly supportive classroom where you’ll play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills and achieve greater independence.
The Role
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with communication, sensory and learning activities
- Supporting pupils with personal care where required
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff
- Encouraging pupils to achieve their individual EHCP targets
- Creating a positive, safe and engaging learning environment
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Health & Social Care qualification, or equivalent
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Desirable Experience
- Autism (ASC)
- SLD or PMLD
- Makaton, PECS or alternative communication methods
- Personal care support
- Specialist school or SEND environment experience
