CERT Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school based in Sutton Coldfield.
The successful candidate will have strong experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly pupils with challenging behaviour, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Cognition and Learning needs.

The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex and additional learning needs.
- Supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Cognition and Learning needs.
- Working confidently with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
- Implementing appropriate strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Supporting pupils to access learning activities and the wider curriculum.
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs.
- Developing positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Encouraging independence, communication, confidence and social development.
- Providing consistent and appropriate support in both classroom and wider school environments.
- Following individual education, behaviour and support plans effectively.
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who:
- Has proven experience working within an SEN or specialist education setting.
- Has experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Has experience working with pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
- Has experience supporting pupils with Cognition and Learning needs.
- Is patient, calm, resilient and able to remain consistent when faced with challenging situations.
- Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential.
- Can work effectively alongside teachers, SENCOs and other members of the school’s support team.
