Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with autism and additional learning needs? CERT Solutions is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Autism Specialist to work within a SEN school based in Handsworth.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and wants to make a real difference in their educational journey.
The Role
As an Autism Specialist, you will work closely with pupils and school staff to provide tailored support, helping children develop their communication, social, emotional and learning skills in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with autism and additional needs.
- Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Implementing individual learning plans and strategies to meet pupils’ needs.
- Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
- Creating a safe, structured and engaging learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
- Encouraging pupils to develop independence, confidence and life skills.~
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a child or care related qualification.
- Has a minimum of 6 months’ experience working with children or young people (essential).
- Has experience supporting children with autism and/or special educational needs.
- Has a patient, caring and understanding approach.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
- Has strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
- Is reliable, flexible and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

CERT Solutions is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS and be required to complete and pass Safeguarding and Prevent training level 2.
