Description
We are looking for experienced and resilient Learning Mentors to join a new education centre in South Birmingham. This role would be particularly well suited to someone with a background in pastoral support, mental health, youth work, behaviour support or working with young people in challenging environments.
You do not need a formal teaching qualification for this position. What matters most is your experience, approach and ability to build positive relationships with young people.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting young people with their educational, emotional and pastoral needs
- Helping learners develop confidence, resilience and positive behaviours
- Providing consistent support to pupils who may struggle within a traditional education setting
- Building trusting relationships and acting as a positive role model
- Supporting learners who may display challenging behaviour
- Helping to maintain a calm, safe and structured centre environment
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure learners are supported effectively
- Transporting children when required
- Travelling between centres occasionally when needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people is essential
- Experience within a challenging environment is essential
- Pastoral, mental health, youth work, behaviour or support work experience is highly desirable
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Confidence dealing with challenging situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
- Flexibility to occasionally travel between centres
- No formal qualifications required

- £95 – £105 per day
- Full-time
- Temp to perm after 12 weeks
