We are looking for experienced and resilient Learning Mentors to join a new education centre in South Birmingham. This role would be particularly well suited to someone with a background in pastoral support, mental health, youth work, behaviour support or working with young people in challenging environments.

You do not need a formal teaching qualification for this position. What matters most is your experience, approach and ability to build positive relationships with young people.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting young people with their educational, emotional and pastoral needs
  • Helping learners develop confidence, resilience and positive behaviours
  • Providing consistent support to pupils who may struggle within a traditional education setting
  • Building trusting relationships and acting as a positive role model
  • Supporting learners who may display challenging behaviour
  • Helping to maintain a calm, safe and structured centre environment
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure learners are supported effectively
  • Transporting children when required
  • Travelling between centres occasionally when needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people is essential
  • Experience within a challenging environment is essential
  • Pastoral, mental health, youth work, behaviour or support work experience is highly desirable
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Confidence dealing with challenging situations
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel between centres
  • No formal qualifications required

  • Temp to perm after 12 weeks
