CERT Solutions are currently recruiting for a Male Care Assistant to work within a specialist SEN college based in Erdington.
The college supports young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including physical and learning disabilities, sensory needs, visual impairments and hearing impairments.
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable individual who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them develop their independence, confidence and life skills.
The Role
As a Care Assistant, you will work alongside teaching and support staff to provide high-quality care and support to students throughout the college day.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing personal care and support to students.
- Assisting students with mobility and physical needs.
- Helping students access lessons, activities and college routines.
- Encouraging independence and supporting the development of life skills.
- Supporting students with physical, learning and sensory needs.
- Communicating effectively with students who may have additional communication needs.
- Following individual care plans and college procedures.
- Maintaining a safe, positive and nurturing environment.
- Working effectively as part of a wider team to ensure students receive consistent support.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working in a care, SEN, education, healthcare or support work environment.
- A caring, patient and empathetic approach.
- Confidence in providing personal care when required.
- The ability to support individuals with a range of additional needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A professional, reliable and trustworthy attitude.
- The ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve greater independence.

CERT Solutions is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS and be required to complete and pass Safeguarding and Prevent training level 2.
