CERT Solutions are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary school in Balsall Heath. This is a full-time opportunity supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a 1:1 basis.
The successful candidate will be confident supporting children with additional needs and able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil. The role will involve supporting their learning, communication, emotional regulation and general wellbeing throughout the school day.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 support to a primary-aged child with autism.
- Support the pupil to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
- Help develop communication, social and emotional skills.
- Provide support with personal care where required.
- Assist with toileting, hygiene and other personal care needs in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Support with transitions, routines and changes throughout the school day.
- Promote independence and encourage positive behaviour.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.
- Maintain a calm, patient and nurturing approach at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced working with children or young people with autism and/or complex SEN needs.
- Comfortable providing personal care.
- Relevant Level 2 or 3 Qualification.
- Patient, empathetic and nurturing.
- Confident supporting communication and emotional regulation.
- Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
- Reliable, proactive and committed to supporting the child’s development.
- A strong team player who can work effectively alongside teaching and support staff.
