Cert Solutions are working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary engineering academy in the Aston area of Birmingham to recruit a Mechanics Teacher for an exciting long-term opportunity.

This role will begin in June 2026, providing a unique chance to establish and develop the Mechanics/Engineering provision, with the department fully launching for September 2026.

The School

 A specialist engineering-focused academy serving students aged 11–18

  • Located in inner-city Birmingham, with excellent transport links
  • Ofsted-rated ‘Good’, with strong leadership and a clear focus on technical education
  • Modern, purpose-built facilities including fully equipped engineering workshops, CAD resources, and practical learning spaces
  • A strong emphasis on employer engagement, apprenticeships, and real-world engineering pathways

 The Role

  •  Teaching Mechanics/Engineering across KS4 and potentially KS5
  • Leading on department setup, curriculum planning, and resource development
  • Working closely with senior leaders to shape a high-quality technical offer
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact in a growing and ambitious academy

The Ideal Candidate

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a background in Mechanics, Engineering, or related subjects
  • Experience teaching practical and theoretical engineering content
  • Confident in curriculum design and department development
  • Passionate about technical education and student progression into STEM careers
