Description
We are urgently looking for dedicated and skilled Supply SEN TAs to join our team, supporting pupils across various Special Needs Schools (Primary, Secondary and Post 16) in the Handsworth and Aston areas of Birmingham.
About the Opportunity
As a Supply SEN TA, you will play a vital, temporary role in ensuring continuity of support for children and young people with a diverse range of special educational needs. This work is perfect if you value flexibility, enjoy variety, and thrive in challenging yet incredibly rewarding environments.
Your daily support needs will vary, but may include:
- Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who have diagnoses such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Emotional/Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
- Following specific learning and care plans, adapting activities, and assisting with therapy programmes (e.g., physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, speech and language).
- Assisting with personal care (where required) and ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils throughout the school day.
- Utilising positive behaviour management strategies and remaining calm and effective in challenging situations.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience working in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) environment is essential.
- The ability to quickly build rapport with new pupils and staff and integrate into a new school setting immediately.
- Experience with manual handling, team teaching/positive handling, or alternative/augmentative communication (AAC) is highly advantageous.
- Reliable, punctual, and passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
