Cert Solutions have a fantastic new opportunity at a special school in Oldbury. This school are seeking SEN Teaching Assistants who are experienced and confident in working within a SEN setting. For this role the school are seeking someone who will be able to fit into their team and help support across all of their classes.
The age range of the pupils are from 11 years old to 16 years old. They have an array of needs from Autism to complex behaviour. This role is full time and will require you to work Monday to Friday, term time only. As this is a role working with SEN pupils, it is important for a successful candidate to be committed to ensure continuity for these pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
- Support with personal care, hygiene routines and physical needs
- Assist with moving and handling (training provided where required)
- Support pupils with sensory activities and communication methods
- Promote dignity, independence and emotional wellbeing
- Follow individual care plans, EHCPs and risk assessments
- Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs
- Background in SEN, care, support work, healthcare or similar settings
- Calm, patient and compassionate approach
- Comfortable with personal care responsibilities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Relevant SEN or care qualifications are desirable but not essential
