CERT Solutions are recruiting for a committed and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal KS2 pupil with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and sensory processing needs, on a 1:1 basis at a welcoming special school in Erdington.
The Role:
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting a pupil who benefits from routine, sensory input, and structured support throughout the day. The pupil follows a highly personalised curriculum and communicates through visuals and gestures, so a calm, consistent and responsive approach is essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 in-class and out-of-class support tailored to sensory and learning needs
- Assisting with personal care and hygiene routines where needed
- Using visual timetables, PECs or other communication strategies
- Encouraging engagement through sensory activities and structured routines
- Supporting safe behaviour and working with the class team and therapists on site
What You Need:
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare or a related field
- Experience supporting pupils with SLD, non-verbal communication or sensory needs
- A proactive and adaptable mindset – able to think on your feet!
- Comfortable with providing personal care
- Able to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
