Description
We are working with a specialist SEN school in the Handsworth area of Birmingham that is looking to appoint a committed and experienced SEN Teacher for a full-time role starting this September.
The school supports children and young people with a range of Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism, and associated challenging behaviours. Pupils are aged between 3 and 19, and you may be placed in either a primary or secondary class.
The Role:
You will be responsible for delivering a highly personalised and engaging curriculum, supported by a team of dedicated TAs and external therapists. Experience in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour is essential, along with a creative, flexible approach to teaching and planning.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds QTS or equivalent
- Has proven experience teaching pupils with SLD and challenging behaviour
- Confident in differentiating lessons and using alternative communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory-based learning)
- Passionate about inclusive education and helping every pupil progress at their own pace
- Able to work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies
