We are working in partnership with a special school in Erdington, to recruit a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team from September 2025.
The school is a specialist setting for pupils aged 4–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated communication and learning difficulties. The school prides itself on providing a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment, with excellent staff support and a focus on personalised teaching.
The Role:
- Teaching a small class of pupils with ASC and complex communication needs
- Planning and delivering a modified, engaging curriculum adapted to individual EHCP targets
- Working alongside a strong team of teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff
- Creating a supportive and consistent classroom environment that promotes independence and emotional regulation
- Monitoring progress and maintaining clear communication with parents, carers, and external professionals
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
- Proven experience working in an SEN or autism-specific setting
- Confident managing behaviour using positive intervention strategies
- Strong understanding of communication needs (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visual timetables)
- Calm, adaptable, and resilient approach to teaching
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
