We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Support Assistant to join a fantastic support team at a special school in Halesowen on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with complex needs and autism and supporting them to reach their full potential and thrive in their educational journey. You will need to be patient, caring and have a genuine passion for education.
Previous experience with SEN is required for this role ideally within a special school setting and you must have a current level 2 or 3 qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one support to pupils with SEN, including those with complex needs and autism.
- Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
- Creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Collaborating closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the needs of pupils are met effectively.
- Encouraging independence and fostering positive relationships with pupils to enhance their learning experience.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with autism, is highly desirable.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport with pupils and support their emotional well-being.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support would be advantageous but not essential.
