CERT Solutions are working with a welcoming special educational needs school near the Handsworth area of Birmingham, who are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Male SEN Support Worker to join their team full-time from September.

This role will involve supporting a primary (KS2) class of pupils with Autism (ASD), providing both learning support and essential care. This role also involves supporting personal care and entering male changing rooms during swimming sessions.

You will be supported by the class teacher, as well as other support staff within the classroom, however experience in a similar care role (in the UK) is required for this post. If you get on well there is a chance of a permanent position being offered.

The working hours for this post are 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday and is an ongoing long term role due to start Tuesday 2nd September 2025. The pay is expected to be around £90 per day/£450 per week.

  • Support students with Autism in a KS2 classroom

  • Use PECS and basic Makaton to aid communication
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils
  • Work closely with a skilled and supportive classroom team

What we need from you:

  • Male support worker required due to care responsibilities
  • Previous experience in a special school setting or residential care
  • Confident supporting pupils with Autism and Complex Needs
  • Familiar with PECS and basic Makaton (or willing to learn)
  • A relevant childcare or health & social qualification is essential
  • Must be reliable with excellent punctuality and a calm, patient nature
  • Full enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willing to apply)
