CERT Solutions are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant with a strong pastoral focus to work in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Handsworth. This role will involve providing targeted 1:1 support for a child with early childhood trauma and challenging behaviour.

The school is seeking a positive male role model, and male applicants are particularly encouraged to apply for this position.

The Role:

  • Providing consistent pastoral support to help a child regulate emotions and behaviour
  • Supporting learning and engagement within the classroom environment
  • Implementing behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Building a trusting, supportive relationship with the child

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children who present challenging behaviour or have experienced trauma
  • A background in psychology, counselling, youth work, mentoring, or a pastoral-type role (desirable)
  • Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
  • Confident in de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
  • Passionate about making a genuine difference to a childโ€™s wellbeing and development
