CERT Solutions are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant with a strong pastoral focus to work in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Handsworth. This role will involve providing targeted 1:1 support for a child with early childhood trauma and challenging behaviour.
The school is seeking a positive male role model, and male applicants are particularly encouraged to apply for this position.
The Role:
- Providing consistent pastoral support to help a child regulate emotions and behaviour
- Supporting learning and engagement within the classroom environment
- Implementing behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
- Building a trusting, supportive relationship with the child
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children who present challenging behaviour or have experienced trauma
- A background in psychology, counselling, youth work, mentoring, or a pastoral-type role (desirable)
- Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
- Confident in de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
- Passionate about making a genuine difference to a childโs wellbeing and development
