Are you a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with experience in care-based support?
CERT Solutions are working in partnership with specialist SEN schools across Walsall and Sandwell that support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and we are seeking committed support staff for temporary, ongoing supply roles.
These roles are ideal for individuals with a background in SEN, care, or support work who are passionate about making a meaningful difference to children with complex needs.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in a PMLD setting, you will support pupils with complex physical, medical and learning needs within a highly structured and nurturing school environment.
This role involves a strong care element, including personal care, moving and handling, and supporting pupils with communication and sensory needs.
You will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure pupils feel safe, supported and able to engage with learning at their own pace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
- Support with personal care, hygiene routines and physical needs
- Assist with moving and handling (training provided where required)
- Support pupils with sensory activities and communication methods
- Promote dignity, independence and emotional wellbeing
- Follow individual care plans, EHCPs and risk assessments
- Work collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff
- Uphold safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex needs
- Background in SEN, care, support work, healthcare or similar settings
- Calm, patient and compassionate approach
- Comfortable with personal care responsibilities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Relevant SEN or care qualifications are desirable but not essential
