CERT Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a small, inclusive primary school in Digbeth who are searching for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism.
This is a long-term opportunity starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, offering consistency and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a child’s educational journey.
The Role
You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a pupil with Autism, supporting their academic progress, emotional regulation, and social development within a mainstream primary setting.
The school is supportive, well-resourced, and committed to inclusive practice. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and SLT to ensure the pupil receives tailored and consistent support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with Autism throughout the school day
- Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs
- Implement EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
- Support emotional regulation using agreed behaviour strategies
- Encourage social interaction and positive peer relationships
- Assist with transitions between activities and lessons
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEND professionals
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO
- Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting children with Autism (in school or similar setting)
- Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practices
- Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA or equivalent)
