CERT Solutions are searching for an experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Handsworth. The school is a two form entry school with very supportive SLT.

This is a long-term, full-time position starting as soon as possible.

The Role:

You will work on a 1:1 basis with a child in Year 2 who has Autism (ASC), supporting their learning, communication, and emotional regulation throughout the school day. The role involves working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to help the child access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
  • Support learning, engagement, and social interaction
  • Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Implement and follow EHCP targets and support plans
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with Autism / SEN (school-based experience preferred)
  • Minimum of a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification (TA, Health and Social Care, Childcare)
  • Patient, empathetic, and reliable
  • Able to build positive relationships and provide consistent support
  • Understanding of behaviour support strategies and inclusive practice
