We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join an SEN school in Wednesbury from September 2026.

The school supports pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), delivering a highly personalised curriculum that focuses on communication, engagement and the development of independence and life skills.

Although the role is based within a secondary setting, applications are welcomed from teachers with both primary and secondary experience. Candidates with experience delivering pre-formal and semi-formal curriculums are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Role:

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SLD and PMLD.
  • Using the Engagement Model to assess and celebrate progress.
  • Delivering play-based learning approaches to support communication and development.
  • Teaching Early English and Early Maths to pupils working below age-related expectations.
  • Supporting pupils through sensory and communication-based activities.
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists and families to provide the best possible outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • Previous experience teaching pupils with SLD and PMLD.
  • A strong understanding of the Engagement Model and its use within specialist settings.
  • Experience delivering Early English and Early Maths.
  • Knowledge of phonics and communication-based approaches to learning.
  • A nurturing, patient and creative approach to teaching.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher or a mainstream teacher with relevant experience who is passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs to achieve their full potential.
