CERT Solutions are working in partnership with a large secondary school who require an English Teacher to start on a full time basis after Easter for the remainder of the academic year.
About the role
The role is a temporary position as its covering an absent member of staff. You will be required to teach KS3 and KS4 English Language and literature. This may be the perfect opportunity for an ECT as well as well-established teacher.
A Bit about the school:
Our client is a large, co-educational 11-16 secondary academy located in the Yardley area of Birmingham (B26). The school is currently rated ‘Good’ in all categories by Ofsted. This rating reflects a significant and sustained journey of improvement, driven by a leadership team focused on high expectations and a “Nothing But the Best” philosophy. The curriculum is designed to be ambitious and knowledge-rich, ensuring students from all backgrounds have access to the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) and high-quality vocational pathways.

Pay:
Paid to scale MPS1 – UPS3 via PAYE depending on your current pay grade
What you will Do:
- Deliver with Impact: Lead engaging and innovative lessons, adapting quickly to diverse learning needs and ensuring students stay on track with their curriculum.
- Foster a Positive Atmosphere: Maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, encouraged, and ready to learn.
- Active Assessment: Monitor student engagement and progress throughout the day, providing constructive feedback and ensuring all work is marked in line with school policy.
- Collaborate & Integrate: Work seamlessly with fellow educators and support staff, contributing to the school’s vibrant community and professional standards.
- Inspire & Guide: Act as a positive role model and mentor, nurturing students’ curiosity and encouraging a genuine love for learning
Requirements:
- A recognized teaching qualification with a focus on English (Bachelor’s in Education, PGCE, or QTS or QTLS).
- A strong background in English and a deep understanding of the curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a drive to continually improve teaching practices.
- Relevant teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school setting.
