CERT Solutions are looking for an SEN TA for a special school in Lozells. This is a unique opportunity to provide one-to-one support to a wonderful secondary aged pupil with complex needs, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role
This specific role is centred on supporting a bright, engaging pupil who has a diagnosis of ASD and associated communication challenges (primarily non-verbal).
You will be instrumental in:
- Facilitating Communication: Using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods, including PECS and a dedicated voice output device, to help the pupil express needs and engage in learning.
- Promoting Independence and Well-being: Supporting the pupil in developing crucial self-help skills, managing sensory input, and fostering positive peer relationships.
- Collaboration: Working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to implement a bespoke Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Who We Are Looking For
- Essential: Experience working with children with complex needs or significant sensory/communication challenges (e.g., ASD, visual impairment, non-verbal communication).
- Highly Desirable: Familiarity with AAC systems (PECS/voice devices) and/or experience supporting pupils with visual impairments.
- A relevant qualification (CACHE or Health and Social Care)
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
