Description
We are looking for a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 provision in Erdington, supporting young people aged 16–19 years with a range of needs, including SLD, ASD, and MLD. All learners have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) and follow highly personalised learning programmes.
As a valued member of the team, you will support students in developing independence, vocational skills, life skills and working towards accredited qualifications that prepare them for adulthood.
The role:
- Full-time, long-term position
- Working with small groups and 1:1 where needed
- Supporting in lessons such as employability, functional skills, and personal development
- Encouraging social skills, confidence and positive relationships
- Helping students work towards individual goals both in and out of the classroom
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with young people with SEN – ideally Post-16 or secondary level
- Relevant qualification (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN Support, or equivalent)
- Understanding of SLD, ASD and MLD needs
- Patient, proactive, and able to adapt activities to suit different learning styles
- Able to commit to a full-time role
