We are working in partnership with a special school in Handsworth that is seeking a full-time ASC Specialist Teacher to lead a Key Stage 2 class from September 2025.
About the Role:
- Full-time, long-term position
- Leading a KS2 class with pupils diagnosed with ASC
- Salary: £160 – £200 per day, dependent on experience and qualifications
- Working within a team of skilled support staff and therapists
- Creating structured, engaging, and autism-friendly learning environments
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous teaching experience, ideally in a special school or ASC setting
- QTS (preferred but not essential for the right experience)
- A strong understanding of autism and associated needs, including sensory processing and communication differences
- Experience using strategies such as TEACCH, PECS, or Makaton (desirable)
- Patience, creativity, and a calm, consistent approach to teaching
