CERT Solutions are working in partnership with an outstanding secondary school in Birmingham who require a full-time teacher of Design & Technology to start from September on a full time basis.

About the role

The role is a long term, full time position covering an absent member of staff who will be on maternity leave. You will be required to teach KS3 and KS4. Planning lessons in line with the national curriculum as well as marking and assessing student work and progress. This may be the perfect opportunity for an ECT as well as well-established teacher.

A Bit about the school:

The school is a small secondary, with around 1,000 students. Based in the North side of Birmingham near Handsworth. They are rated Outstanding by Ofsted and have great transport links as well as onsite parking.

Pay:

Paid to scale MPS1 – UPS3 (£162 – £251 per day PAYE) depending on your current pay grade

What you’ll Do:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative KS3 & KS4 Design & Technology lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Supportive classroom environment that encourages students to thrive academically and personally.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to contribute to the school’s vibrant academic community.
  • Be a mentor and guide for students, nurturing their curiosity and love for DT.

Requirements:

  • A recognized teaching qualification with a focus on Design & Technology (Bachelor’s in Education, PGCE, or QTS or QTLS).
  • A strong background in Graphic design, RM, Product design and a deep understanding of the curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and a drive to continually improve teaching practices.
  • Relevant teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school setting.
