Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in West Bromwich. This is a full-time position, starting as soon as possible, and would suit someone who is confident supporting pupils across all year groups within the primary setting.
The Role:
You will work as an SEN Teaching Assistant during the mornings, providing targeted support to pupils with additional needs. In the afternoons, you will take on the role of a General Teaching Assistant, supporting the wider class and school as required.
The successful candidate will be confident adapting their approach to meet the needs of pupils across the primary age range and be comfortable working with children from Early Years through to Year 6.
As part of the role, you may be required to support Year 6 pupils, so strong written and spoken English skills are essential. You should be confident supporting pupils with their literacy, written work and preparation for the transition to secondary school.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar education-based role
- Confident supporting pupils across all primary year groups
- Experience supporting children with additional needs/SEN
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- Confident working with Year 6 pupils
- Able to adapt to different classroom environments and pupil needs
- A patient, supportive and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, flexible and confident working as part of a school team
